Prepare ACF
Install Advanced Custom Fields separately, create a field group attached to your source post type, and save values on a published test post. Licensed Pro owns ACF discovery and value processing; Free does not process ACF-specific mappings.
Choose ACF output
Open the endpoint builder, select the source and expand the ACF field section. Add supported fields to the output and inspect preview. Pro supports nested group, repeater and flexible-content traversal and sub-field exclusions. Output depends on the configured ACF type and return format.
- Keep Free, licensed Pro and the separate ACF plugin active.
- Create a synthetic field group for the selected post type and save values on a published test post.
- Select that source in the endpoint builder and expand the ACF field section.
- Add supported fields, review nested selections and inspect preview.
- Save and verify the actual REST output, especially repeater, group and relationship values.
Check nested values
Verify the actual REST response against the frontend shape you expect, particularly media, relationship and nested fields. ACF is not bundled, and this does not guarantee support for every third-party ACF extension. If fields are absent, verify the location rules, saved values, ACF activation and Pro license state.
